Printing Strange Mutualisms, 2024
In 2023, I had the honor of working alongside Corinne Teed, on the production of their queer ecology anthology - Strange Mutualisms, featuring work from queer scholars, artists, and ecologists from across the united states. While working as Corinne’s studio assistant, I took the lead on printing this project, Translating varying works into multilayered, gorgeous Risograph pages. The book was released in an edition of 150 spring of 2024!
From the introduction: “Life exists as and through mutualism. Whether strategically developed or spontaneously formed, mutualisms are often how entire ecosystems are transformed, social movements are built, systems are changed, and dynamic processes evolve...In this publication, we explore strange mutualisms or improper alliances – relations that complicate the binary of beneficial vs. harmful arrangements to make room for the ways that collaboration across differences is necessarily vulnerable, uncomfortable, and strange.”
Behind the Scenes: Printing 'Other Cities'
Videos documenting the production and finalization of a 150-edition of 'Other Cities,' a collaborative project spearheaded by McKnight Book Arts fellow, Corrine Teed. The project features images by Teed’s students from the University of Minnesota and stories by incarcerated individuals from the Minnesota prison writing workshop. I was commissioned by Corrine to oversee the printing production, involving Risograph interior and screen-printed covers. The project debuted at the Minnesota Book Arts Center in September 2022.
